Board of Directors

Alicia Gatto, CD(DONA) - Founder & President

Alicia Gatto was born in Warren, PA and has always resided in Warren County.  She received a Bachelors degree in Communications from the University of Pittsburgh.

Alicia has been married to fellow Director, Dr. Robert J. Gatto, Jr. for five years.  They have two daughters, Gracie (4) & Laney (2).  On April 7, 2008, they heard the devastating news that their third daughter would be stillborn due to a true knot in the cord.  On April 8, Adalyn Kathryn, was born after an emotional and heartwrenching labor.  During labor, Alicia prayed she would find a way to help other women who experience the horrifying loss of a baby.  As she was released from the hospital, the feelings of emptiness and loneliness grew stronger and more painful.  She longed for her beautiful baby and truly felt the aching of empty arms.  Alicia immediately began to journal and continued to read the small informational pamphlets until they became ragged and worn.  If only she had more books to read....something to reassure her that she was not alone.  After a week of extreme grieving, Alicia began to order books online.  Shortly after, she determined she would donate her favorite books to hospitals and doctor's offices so other women can benefit from the same information while they are still in the hospital.  Since that first goal she set for herself, this foundation was born and additional goals have been set.

Alicia is honored to have the support from her fellow Directors.  She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them, as well as offer support and resources to the thousands of women who experience pregnancy and/or infant loss each year.

In addition to raising her children and managing Addie's Gift Foundation, Alicia is a Corporate General Manager and Owner of Allegheny Nutritionals, LLC, a vitamin company she operates with her husband.  Alicia is also pursuing Doula certification through DONA International.

Robert J. Gatto, Jr., DC

Dr. Robert J. Gatto, Jr. was born in Jamestown, NY and grew up in neighboring Falconer, NY.  He received an Associates of Science and Math Degree from Jamestown Community College in 1995, a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from West Virginia University in 1997 and a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from New York Chiropractic College in 2000.

Robert is a Corporate General Manager of Allegheny Nutritionals, LLC.  He is credited with formulating the company's Natural AllianceTM line of nutritional supplements and also manages corporate operations.  He also owns and operates Active Lives Chiropractic Center, a state of the art chiropractic facility in Jamestown, NY.

Robert is married to Alicia Gatto, Founder and Chairperson of Addie's Gift Foundation, Inc.  After the loss of their third baby, Adalyn Kathryn, in April 2008, Alicia decided to begin Addie's Gift Foundation, Inc.  Robert was in full support of the endeavor.  He feels that outreach and support services for infant loss are a necessity.  Robert serves on the Addie's Gift Foundation Board of Directors and is Vice-President of the Board.

Robert and Alicia have two surviving children, Gracine "Gracie" Gatto and Alaina "Laney" Gatto.  They reside in Northwestern, PA.

Susan Knowlden, CNM, WHNP, MSN

Susan Knowlden and her husband suffered the devastating loss of a baby boy at 3 days of age and a little girl at age 18 months.  Both children were victims of the same incurable kidney disease.  The loss of her children led Susan into the nursing profession, maternity nursing in particular, since she wanted to be able to comfort families who also suffer with pregnancy and infant loss.  She remembers feeling so very alone and truly wished there had been a support system such as Addie's Gift Foundation.  The only person Susan felt really understood what she was going through was a nurse who shared her experience of a term stillbirth.

Susan and her husband were fortunate enough to eventually have a healthy boy who just graduated from college.

Susan's nursing career then evolved to once again going back to school in 1998 to earn a Master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery.  She truly feels that this is her calling in life and she is honored to be a part of the wonderful foundation.  She looks forward to supporting women and their families in whatever way she can.

Susan was also present at Addie's birth.  She has stood by Alicia's side through it all and she continues to offer support by being such a great asset to Addie's Gift, as well as to her extensive patient base.

Leslie Greene, CD(DONA)

Leslie Greene is a mother of two teenage boys and resides in Jamestown, NY.  In addition to her doula certification, she is a Hypnotherapist, Reiki Practitioner and a Hypno-Birthing Childbirth Educator.  Leslie is dedicated to help, heal and empower women through the birthing process.  She provides women with great knowledge and blesses women with her wonderful support.

Leslie educated and supported Alicia and Rob during their pregnancies and births.  With her help and expertise, they have birthed their three daughters using Hypno-Birthing: The Mongan Method, a beautiful, natural approach to birthing.

Leslie is committed to helping women and their families heal after a devastating loss.
