About Addie's Gift

Addie's Gift Foundation, Inc. is the brainchild of chairperson, Alicia Gatto, who lost her third daughter at 37 weeks gestation because of a true knot in the cord.  As Alicia progressed through labor, she prayed she would find a way to help others who experience the same horrifying pain.  Her grieving was more difficult than ever imagined.  Days were long and the nights were longer.  Although blessed with a supportive and loving family, Alicia felt very alone.  She found comfort in books that reassured her that she wasn't the only one to experience such pain.  It was then that Alicia decided to donate books to hospitals and physician offices so others will have the same information to help reassure them.

Alicia's initial goal quickly grew into Addie's Gift Foundation, Inc.  With the overwhelming support of her husband, family, midwives, doulas and the community, this organization was developed.  The Board of Directors consists of very talented, intellectual, supportive and caring members.  All of which have played an important and meaningful role in Alicia's life, as well in the lives of their patients, clients and families.

If you or someone you know can benefit from Addie's Gift Foundation, please remember we are here.  We welcome volunteers for upcoming fundraising events and would love to hear your thoughts via email, phone or through our online forums.

OUR SERVICES

  • BOOKS:  As we raise money, we will donate books to physician offices and maternity wards so that every woman and family will have helpful and reassuring information to support them through the process.

  • LABOR SUPPORT:  If you or someone you know needs additional labor support through a traumatic birth, please call (814) 688-8003.  We have doulas and other volunteers available to attend a birth.  Alicia Gatto has also offered to provide support through a labor, immediately after or anytime when necessary.  We are also available in the event that there are concerns and fears during a labor, even without a confirmed demise.  This service is currently only offered in Warren and Chautauqua Counties.  We are hoping to extend this service throughout the United States as more volunteers get involved.  Please call for more information.

  • GRIEF SUPPORT:  If you or someone else could benefit from grief support and are having trouble finding it, please contact us.  We can either direct you to a group or individual or offer one of our professional volunteers to help.  Please call (814) 688-8003.  Again, this service is only offered in Warren and Chautauqua Counties, but we are looking forward to receiving help from other professionals across the US.

  • APPOINTMENTS:  If you have fears and concerns about attending a doctor's appointment, ultrasound or other type of testing, and do not have anyone to drive you or be with you, please call (814) 688-8003.  We will make arrangements so that you are not alone.  Service only available in Warren and Chautauqua Counties at this time.  Please contact us if you are interested in providing support in your community.

We welcome all calls.  Please do not be afraid to ask for help.
